Murtfeldt paved the way for success in the 1950s when Original Material “S”® green was introduced. In 1954, Fritz Murtfeldt and four employees started machining parts from laminated wood material. Today Murtfeldt is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of slide profiles, chain and belt guides, chain tensioners, and custom machine parts made from abrasion–resistant glide–enabling plastics.
Today, Murtfeldt boasts an extensive range of plastics that are used in many different industry sectors: in automation engineering, assembly and handling technology, drive engineering, conveyor technology, the beverage, food, and packaging industries, medical engineering, pharmaceutical production and laboratory equipment. Murtfeldt creates products that are antistatic, antibacterial, wear resistant, temperature resistant or noise reducing as required. Combinations of multiple properties are also possible.

QUALITY MANAGEMENT
Murtfeldt quality standards are based on a quality assurance system that was again certified in accordance with DIN ISO 9001 in 2016. Each Murtfeldt product is subjected to several checks to make sure that it has been correctly produced prior to delivery. The quality assurance staff ensure that the material, quantity, dimensions, and tolerances of a product are correct. Each work piece is subjected to a second check in line with our dual control principle. An additional final check with documentations at the request of the customer is carried out for particularly challenging technical products.
ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT
Murtfeldt is well ahead of applying norms related to environmental sustainability and energy management. For example, as early as 1997, Murtfeldt implemented an environmental management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001. During production, chippings are collected and processed at Murdotec (Murtfeldt own subsidiary) to produce semi–finished products of a defined quality that are returned to Murtfeldt production lines.

Standard 
products
Plastics (for food and non-food applications):
- plastics for use in the food industry are used in applications with direct food contact and are certified by EC regulation 1935/2004 and indicates materials which are suitable for contact with foods using the letters FS “Food Safe”;
- group “S”® Plastics is a group of plastics on the basis of the tried–and–tested Original Material “S”® green, are made from high quality UHMW polyethylene. These plastics can be applied for various industries;
- technical plastics are primarily characterized by good sliding properties and high wear resistance. These plastics are known for a guaranteed long lifetime and low maintenance requirements for Customers;
- high–performance plastics are designed to meet unusual requirements, high stress and strains. They are characterized by exceptional chemical, mechanical and thermal resistance and can withstand dynamic stress. High–performance plastics are ideally suited for specific customized tasks.
Murtfeldt range of plastic materials constitutes the basis for optimized machining and production processes and includes specially designed materials suitable for use in an extremely wide range of applications.
Profile guides:
- chain guides protect chains and guarantee optimum running properties at the same time as extremely high wear resistance. The tried–and–tested Material “S” ® 1000 and the economical alternative “S”®1000 have ideal material properties that make them well–suited for use as guides for roller and round link chains. Murtfeldt has an extensive range of profiles for roller chains that comply with DIN 8187 and round link chains that comply with DIN 766 and DIN 764. Also, special guides can be manufactured according to Customer specifications.
- belt guides are made of Material “S”® Black Antistatic, which considerably reduces the wear of a guide coming from belt friction. In addition, the Customers save on drive energy, thanks to the reduced static friction. Material “S”® Black Antistatic is suitable for round belts, V belts, timing belts and timing belts with V guides.
- profiles for conveying and transportation can be found in beverage, packaging, food and frozen food sectors, where products must be transported in a reliable manner that protects them from damage. A wide range of such profiles is available as standard items. Custom profiles can also be produced according to the demands of application.

Tensioning systems for chains and belts
Chains and belts are important wearing parts in many industrial machines. Since they are constantly moving, the stresses to which they are subjected are particularly high. Belts require tensioning, chain links elongate and can be damaged jumping over sprockets. Murtfeldt tensioning systems help keep chains and belts tensioned correctly, significantly increasing their lifetime. They are tried–and–tested solution in various applications. Murtfeldt has a variety of different tensioning systems, and a precise solution can be found to any requirement.

3D printing technology
3D printing is currently one of the fastest growing and advancing production technologies, combining various specific and complicated manufacturing processes. The advantages of this production method are clear: relatively short time to process and deliver the needed spare parts, possibility to produce unique items, as well as freedom to recreate a unique product. All parts are produced according to the tolerance standard DIN16742.
Lubricating systems
The main goal of a lubrication systems is to make the lifetime of production equipment as long as possible. Murtfeldt lubrication systems constitute a perfected combination of sound technology, reliable functioning, and cost effectiveness. A customer can choose between a manual lubrication system, an automatic lubrication system, a central lubrication unit with a pump or an automatic spray system. All Murtfeldt systems have optimum dosing capability, good visual control of drippage, and a choice of Plexiglas or natural glass cylinders.
